Identity, Book
The Valmor Prize has awarded the best architecture in the city of Lisbon since 1903. Created by the 2nd Valmor Viscount, Fausto Correia Guedes, this prize is given to the architect and the promoter of the building in equal parts. In 2017, the Lisbon Municipal Council invited the Lisbon Architecture Triennale to develop its new exhibitions, publications, communication strategy.
As the in-house designer for the Triennale I took on the job of developing a new graphic identity. The briefing was to create a sober and classic approach. I looked for inspiration in the façades of the awarded historical buildings and their signs carved in stone with the Valmor insignia. I chose the Saol typeface because of its confident and enigmatic aura, but also because of the chisel-like feeling that it transpires.
