Identity, Art Direction
A gigantic tower block, a bar in a garden, an intervention on a riverboat station, a meditation center, a church and a private apartment – this selection of architectural works were given to the fictional world of stories of writer Patrícia Portela. Her short stories were then a starting point to additional projects of Pedro Cabeleira (filmmaker) and Catarina Botelho (photographer). Lisbon Acts consists of a book, a short movie, and a photographic series. This project was curated by The Lisbon Architecture Triennale, a non-profit association whose mission is to research, foster and promote architectural thinking and practice.
This book was part of an exhibition conceived for the Belgrade International Architecture Week. The mote was to think how the city of Lisbon has changed since the beginning of Triennale’s association. A significant first project of six architecture studios were selected, testifying that our ancient city has been the stage of constant ideological, social, economic and structural evolution. This exhibition showed fictional views in response to these experiences, at the same time that architects go on shaping our city, weaving the fabric in which we live.
